24th July 2013 Windsurfing: Newgale Wind Direction: SSW Wind Stength: F3-3 Surf / Sea State: Wind waves Air Temperature: 23 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered: Windguru was giving 18 to 21 mph cross-on for Newgale so I thought I would give it a try. A few kites were out when I arrived, but it looked a bit marginal. No ground swell, just a few wind waves - went for 6.4 on 100 litres for best chance of planing as the riding would not be great. Just enough to plane - had a good hour, came in for a sandwich and clouds came over and the wind went. Guru had given 18 to 21 all afternoon so a bit disappointed, but it was great to have been out in sunshine and warm water and a few bits of wave. Lots of jelly fish washed up - clear with purple rings - I asked a life guard if they stung, but he did not think they were a problem. |
